Leaf Raking & Fall Cleanup in Skåne

Autumn in Skåne is beautiful but intense. Between mid-September and late November most deciduous trees (birch, maple, linden, oak, beech, chestnut) drop their leaves, and a villa lot can go from well-kept to buried under a thick cover in two weeks. Left untouched, the grass suffocates, beds clog, and winter's snow mold gets a free pass. NordVerk handles leaf raking and fall cleanup for homes, row houses, HOAs and businesses across all of southwest Skåne, with season contracts that fit inside the RUT deduction and haulage as standard.

What's included in a leaf raking visit

Each visit is a complete fall cleanup, not just raking:

  • Leaf raking of the entire lot: lawn areas, beds, driveways, paths and corners where leaves accumulate. Leaf blower where possible, hand-raking where required (next to beds, plantings, stone).
  • Clearing beds of leaves that settle over perennials. Important, because wet leaves suffocate sensitive plants over winter.
  • Removal of twigs, seed pods, fallen apples and other autumn debris collected at the same time.
  • Haulage of all material. No sack left behind. Driven directly to a recycling station or composted on-site if you prefer.
  • Visual check of the lawn's pre-winter condition. Signs of moss, voles or dry patches noted and reported.

The season's rhythm: when we come

Skåne's leaf fall roughly follows this pattern:

  • Mid-September: Early species (birch, chestnut) start to drop. First visit scheduled.
  • October: Peak weeks. Maple, linden, ash and beech drop intensively. Visits every other week or weekly during heavy fall.
  • November: Oak sheds late, often into December. Final visits include a clean-up of what blew in from neighboring properties and winter prep.

We never rake leaves at the same time as the first winter snow. Wet frozen leaves are extremely difficult to rake and would just become a spring problem.

Different lots: different setups

We adapt to what you have:

  • Small villa lot with few deciduous trees. Two to three visits per season is enough. Lower per-visit price.
  • Standard villa with birch or maple. Three to four visits, fixed weekday.
  • Larger lot with oak and beech. Four to six visits, weekly during peak.
  • HOA or property with common areas. Framework contract with weekly clearing, prioritized driveways and emergency exits.

Why autumn leaf raking is one of the season's most important jobs

Three concrete reasons:

The lawn can breathe. A thick leaf cover blocks light and moisture. After two to three weeks the grass starts yellowing underneath, and at spring snowmelt you'll find yellow patches that take the entire early summer to recover. Regular raking prevents this entirely.

Snow mold is avoided. Snow mold (Microdochium nivale) is a fungal disease that establishes itself under moist leaf covers left under the snow. It shows as pink-grey patches in spring and requires overseeding to fix. Leaf raking before winter is the single most important preventive measure.

Beds fare better. Wet leaves left on perennials over winter lead to stem rot and suffocation of early spring blooms. Clearing around beds gives perennials a chance to go dormant clean and healthy.

Haulage: no sack left

We always take everything we collect with us. It's included in the price, not an add-on. Material is driven to the municipal recycling station or composted in a larger facility. Smaller amounts can be composted on-site if you prefer and have suitable space. Discuss at the inspection.

50% RUT deduction

Leaf raking on your own property is fully RUT-eligible:

  • 50% off labor cost, directly on the invoice
  • Max 75,000 SEK per person per year (150,000 SEK per couple)
  • Haulage included in the same job is also RUT-eligible
  • We handle all reporting to the Swedish Tax Agency

The RUT deduction halves the labor cost directly on the invoice, making professional leaf raking substantially more accessible. More on our RUT page.

Bundle with snow removal for year-round coverage

Most customers combine leaf raking with snow removal for a fall/winter contract covering September to March. One contact, one invoice, automatic dispatch, from the first leaf fall in September to the last snowfall in March. Contract customers always go first for urgent events.

Another common setup is a year-round garden maintenance contract covering lawn mowing, hedge trimming, leaf raking and snow removal across the whole year.

Frequently asked questions

Short, honest answers to what we get asked every week. If yours is not here, just call, we are happy to help.

  1. 01How often is leaf raking needed during autumn?
In Skåne most deciduous trees drop their leaves between mid-September and late November. For a villa with birch, maple or linden, three to four visits across the period is usually enough. For lots with large oaks and beeches, weekly visits in October-November may be needed since they shed slower and later. We set the rhythm based on which trees you have.
  2. 02Do you take the leaves with you or leave the sacks on the property?
Haulage is always included, with no sacks left behind. We blow or rake into piles, collect into bulk sacks or onto a tarpaulin, and drive directly to a recycling station. Smaller amounts can be composted on-site if you prefer and have suitable space, but the default is that we take everything away.
  3. 03Why is leaf raking important for the lawn?
A thick leaf cover smothers grass. It blocks light and moisture, leading to yellow patches and, in the worst case, snow mold over winter. Regular raking during autumn keeps the lawn breathing and prevents problems that otherwise take the whole spring to fix. It's one of the cheapest interventions for a healthy lawn next season.
  4. 04What does leaf raking cost?
Price depends on lot size, share of deciduous trees, and how thick the cover is. The cost is reduced by 50% through the RUT deduction on labor costs, which is applied directly on the invoice. Season contracts with three to four visits September-November provide the best value. We always provide a fixed quote after inspection.
  5. 05Can you combine leaf raking with winter snow removal?
Yes, this is what most customers do: a fall/winter contract covering leaf raking September-November transitioning to snow removal December-March. One contact, one invoice, automatic dispatch for both. Contract customers go first for urgent events like storm fall or sudden snowfall.
  6. 06Is leaf raking RUT-eligible?
Yes, fully RUT-eligible: 50% off labor cost directly on the invoice, up to 75,000 SEK per person per year. Hauling included in the same job counts as part of the work and is also RUT-eligible. We handle all reporting to the Swedish Tax Agency.
