Garden Maintenance in Lomma
Lomma is Lomma municipality's central town and one of Skåne's most attractive coastal locations. The town sits directly on Öresund, with characteristic salt-laden winds, a mild climate and easy access to the beach. Lomma municipality has the highest median income in Sweden and the town has grown substantially over the past 15 years, with both new construction in Lomma Hamn (the modern harbour district) and densification of older blocks closer to the original centre.
We have many customers in Lomma and know the area's specific challenges, from the salt climate's effect on plant choice to the practical aspects of caring for gardens across a varied housing stock that runs from 1900s villas through 1960s suburb to 2010s harbour-district apartments and BRF buildings.
What makes Lomma gardens distinctive
Salt exposure from Öresund. Salt-laden wind shapes plant selection in the town:
- Thrives: privet, yew, thuja, cherry laurel, sea buckthorn, flowering quince and rugosa roses.
- Struggles: some magnolias, more sensitive ornamentals, and certain modern rose varieties bred for inland conditions.
- Sheltered positions are valuable. Courtyards, rear gardens and lots behind hedges have markedly better conditions for sensitive plants, so plant placement is sometimes more important than plant choice.
We have local experience with coastal gardens and recommend plant choices and placement that match the conditions.
Damp summer climate. Proximity to the sea gives damper summers than further inland:
- Tighter hedge trimming may be necessary, as growth comes faster than the standard schedule.
- Generally strong plant vigour and fewer drought problems.
- Some risk of fungal attacks on sensitive plants, which we note early during routine visits.
- An opportunity for an earlier season start, spring cleanup can run in March rather than April.
Mixed development. Central Lomma contains older villas (1900s through 1960s), a 1970s suburb belt and substantial newer construction in Lomma Hamn. We have experience across all three and adapt equipment to the lot's character: smaller, lighter machines for the modern paved courtyards, larger walk-behind mowers for the older villa lawns.
Storm risk in winter. Coastal locations are more exposed to autumn storms than inland districts. We offer standby for storm damage to trees, and contract customers always go first in urgent situations.
Common assignments in Lomma
A handful of jobs come up repeatedly across the town.
The classic coastal villa season contract. A 600 m² lot with a privet or thuja hedge along two sides, an apple tree in the back and a moderate open lawn. Mowing every other week May through September, two hedge trims (June and August), spring and fall cleanup. Net cost after RUT is substantially lower than the undiscounted amount, with a fixed-price quote provided after the free inspection.
Lomma Hamn courtyard maintenance. A modern courtyard garden in the harbour district with paved areas, planted beds and a compact lawn. Routine bed care, hedge shaping, lawn maintenance and seasonal cleanup. We use smaller, lighter equipment to protect the paved surfaces.
BRF frame contract. A BRF building in central Lomma with shared front and back gardens, a perimeter hedge and a service path. Weekly mowing in season, two hedge trims, leaf raking, winter snow removal as add-on. Monthly invoicing to the board.
Post-storm cleanup. Lomma is exposed to autumn storms off Öresund. Contract customers get priority promptly of major weather events.
What a typical Lomma season contract includes
For a standard villa we usually recommend:
- Spring cleanup (March or April): raking, pruning, bed clearing, fertilising where appropriate.
- Lawn mowing every other week May through September, around 10 to 12 visits.
- Hedge trimming twice (June and August), or occasionally three times for privet in a damp summer.
- Fall cleanup with leaf raking, perennial pruning and winter preparation.
- Tree pruning as needed, scheduled at the appropriate season for each species.
- Snow removal in winter as an add-on or a separate contract.
All on a single invoice with the RUT-avdrag applied directly to the labor cost.
Pricing and the RUT-avdrag in Lomma
All our services in Lomma are eligible for the RUT-avdrag (50% labor tax deduction). For readers new to the Swedish system:
- The labor portion of every invoice is automatically discounted by 50%.
- The cap is 75,000 SEK per person per year, or 150,000 SEK per couple in the same household.
- We are registered for F-skatt (registered Swedish business tax), which is the prerequisite for applying the deduction on your behalf. You do nothing administratively; we file every report with Skatteverket.
- Material costs (soil, plants, gravel) are not RUT-eligible, but for most Lomma contracts labor accounts for 85 to 95% of the total.
RUT cuts the labor cost by 50% directly on the invoice. The exact net price depends on lot size and ambition. More on the RUT page.

How to get started
Get in touch by phone or the contact form and we will book a free site visit in Lomma. The inspection is at no charge and entirely without obligation. We walk the garden together, give advice on plant choices and care in the coastal climate, photograph anything load-bearing for the quote, and send a written fixed-price quote promptly.
We do not start work until you have accepted the quote in writing. Once the contract is signed, you have a named contact who responds promptly and a fixed team that returns through the season. For BRF boards and property owners we do the inspection together with the board and produce a framework contract within a week.
